Bruce Walker (Huntsville area)

Bruce Walker takes the family story narrative to a whole new level telling stories about a place called "Walker's Bend"; where life is simpler but not simple-minded. Renee Simmons Morrison (Anniston area)

Morrison grew up on a "mystical" Alabama dairy farm where dogs talked, fairies danced, and her best childhood friend was an invisible creature named Noseplips. She weaves tales about her beloved Calico, delighting audiences with "deliciously frightening" ghoast stories and enthralling listeners with sounds such as barking dogs, hissing banshees, and howing shape shifters. Millie Jackson (Tuscaloosa area)

Millie Jackson grew up listening to tall tales, lies, fibs, and folk tales from her grandma, aunts and uncles, and cousins. She knows a good story when she hears it. Millie tells stories from various folk traditions and from her personal experiences. For the past several years Millie has been performing in schools, libraries, museums and at festivals in Tennessee, Alabama and Michigan. Millie has an M.A. in Storytelling from East Tennessee State University and works in the University Library at The University of Alabama. Sara DuBose (Montgomery area)

Sara DuBose is a storyteller and author of four novels: Where Hearts Live, Where Love Grows, Where Memories Linger and A Promise for Tomorrow. She is also author of one non-fiction entitled Conquering Anxiety. Her other credits include articles and stories for numerous publications including seven anthologies. Sara has received a first place award from Putting Your Passion into Print and a first place award from the Southeastern Writer’s Association. Ashley Hulsey Coutch (Birmingham area)

Ashley Hulsey Coutch is a practicing storyteller, songwriter and educator working out of Birmingham, Alabama. She worked as a storyteller for the Birmingham Public Library System for several years before she moved on to form her own freelance business. She has told stories and sung her children's songs with the guitar for thousands of children at festivals, schools, libraries, churches, camps and daycares. Ashley is also an alumnus of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa's MFA program in creative writing, and she is working on several children's books. Doug Wells

Doug is a popular Alabama storyteller. His ability to “paint pictures with words” captivates his audience. He grew up on an Alabama farm and was educated in advanced music studies. In the sixties and seventies, he toured the country as a concert pianist. Later he changed his performance to comic routines and incorporated stories into his program, with outstanding results. He is a three-time champion, first place winner of the Toastmaster International Humorous Speech and Storytelling Competition. James (Jym) Miller (Huntsville area)

An Irish storyteller (Seanachai), James (Seamus in Irish) tells stories about growing up in Ireland in and around a small village called Ballyboghil. (YES, there is really such a place just fifteen miles northeast of Dublin.) Jym also shares more traditional stories from Ireland told to him by his Mother and Grandmother. Brenda Pritchett (Columbus, MS area)

"Oh, dear I'm late for a very important date..." moans Mrs. Peabody (a.k.a. Brenda Pritchett) and so begins the story time with the children. I have been telling stories for 30+ years and love how the power of story can educate us, inspire and encourage us, and even cause us to change the way we think about some things. Dolores Hydock (Birmingham area)

Dolores Hydock’s vivacious style fills the stage with a swirl of characters in her funny, affectionate stories about family fireworks, food fads, true love, and other peculiarities of everyday life. In addition to personal stories, her award-winning adaptations of medieval adventures, literary stories, and traditional tales make ancient wisdom come alive for 21st century story lovers. Dolores has been a Featured Teller at the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, TN, and a Teller-in-Residence at Jonesborough's International Storytelling Center. Sara McDaris (Huntsville area)

After thirty-four years, Sara McDaris retired as storyteller for the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library. In that capacity she produced and hosted Grunches and Grins, shown on APT for nineteen years. She was on the initial staff of WLRH Public Radio, and is now a regular contributor to its Writers Corner. Sara has been selected as narrator for both The Community Chorus and The Huntsville Symphony. The HSO Board commissioned her libretto, Amanda Miranda’s Amazing Birthday, to be orchestrated. Sarah Mutziger (Meridian, MS area)

Sarah is a seasoned storyteller with something for all ages. She began telling while she was a therapist and quickly discovered that stories offered metaphors and maps for the healing process. She teaches others about telling stories and using stories for healing and transformation in workshops, seminars and classes. Sarah’s repertoire includes worldwide folklore, mythology, legends, and unusual ghost stories. While working as an assistant children’s librarian, Sarah developed a passion for working with toddlers. Katrina Estes Hill (Louisville, MS area)

Also known as “Mizippihippi”, Katrina is an artist, writer, and storyteller from Louisville, Mississippi. Her collection of stories is based on her book, “Fatdaddy’s Watermelon and Other Tales from the Hollow”. Her tales are reminiscent of childhood on her grandparents’ farm in rural Winston County. Her Southern tales range from hilarious to heart-warming and are appropriate for all ages. Her children’s book, “My Imagination”, released in August of 2007, won the Mom's Choice Gold Award and is listed in ForeWord Magazine's top twenty finalists for Best Children's Book. Elizabeth Vander Kamp (Birmingham area)

Elizabeth weaves homespun stories, myths, legends and fairy tales into her telling. She began telling stories when she forgot her homework in the 3rd grade. Which led her to the stage and writing two solo performance pieces. The first, "Priscilla Tulip Spring is Getting Married", chronicles the tale of a woman who marries herself. The second piece, The "Babe's Back", tells the life story of the 20th Century's Greatest Female Athlete, Babe Didrikson Zaharias, and has received critical acclaim across the U.S. and Canada. Bill King (Billy Bob Bohannon) (Opelika area)

Bill King is a story teller, humorist, musician, song writer, published author, poet, and ordained minister. As his alter ego, Bro. Billy Bob Bohannon, he tells humorous stories and sings about himself, his family, and his church family. Billy Bob is the pastor of the fictional Last Baptist Church in Bird Bump, Alabama. Bill also tells stories in the first person voice and in costume as several Bible characters. These include Peter, Daniel, Joseph (Father of Jesus), Joseph of the Old Testament, and others.
Bill is a graduate of Samford University, holds a masters of divinity, and doctor of ministry degree from New Orleans Baptist Seminary. He pastored churches in Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi. Lisa Hicks (Birmingham area)

Lisa Hicks began telling stories to her grandmother as a small child. She picked up storytelling again as an adult at the Homewood Library. Now as an independent contract storyteller she goes all over the state of Alabama to venues that include symphonies, festivals, schools, libraries, churches, summer camps, birthday parties and many more.
